Shasta Cascade Membership Benefits

The Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association, a not-for-profit organization, was founded by a group of local business leaders in 1927. With a mission of promoting economic development through recreation and tourism in the eight-county region known as the Shasta Cascade (Butte, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity), the Association has developed a variety of strategies to accomplish this goal.

These five strategies, it seems, can best be accomplished at the regional level. For example International marketing needs to have sufficient tourism product to attract potential visitors. In other words one small community is not likely to have the resources nor the attractions to draw visitors from half-way around the world.

The five strategies the Association has concentrated on in recent years are as follows:

  1. Produce Shasta Cascade's official regional visitors guide.
  2. Operate the California Welcome Center in Anderson.
  3. Interaction with Potential Visitors with such activities as hosting a website, participation in a variety of trade and consumer travel shows and telephone calls.
  4. Serve as a clearing house for outdoor recreation and travel media.
  5. International Marketing in four major countries – Germany, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Why be a member?

  • Display of one 4x9 inch brochure in the California Welcome Center (CWC) which receives hundreds of visitors per week and is open 7 days a week, year round.
  • Free internet listing, one photo and one link on SCWA website which receives thousands of visitors per month. The SCWA website is linked to the California Tourism website which is one of the most visited travel website in the world with 4.8 million hits per month!
  • Free 25-word listing in the annual Shasta Cascade Visitors Guide with distribution of 40,000 copies.
  • Member referral services for those visiting the Welcome Center, calling our toll-free 800 phone line, or requesting information via email or regular mail.
  • Representation at international and domestic travel and outdoor show
  • Liaison with Travel Writers and International Tour Operator exposure
  • Local, State and National advocacy for the regional tourism and outdoor recreation industry
  • Display/Co-Op advertising opportunities
  • Member participation in Shasta Cascade's annual Tourism Summit
  • Listed on JackRabbit reservation system on SCWA, CWC and Visit California websites
