The Art of Mount Shasta Wildflowers

Join us for a botanical exploration on the spring-fed slopes of Mount Shasta, rich with summer flowers. Using the paintings of Edward Stuhl and the field guide Mount Shasta Wildflowers, students will learn to identify local flowers by common and scientific names as they hike and become familiar with botanical nomenclature. During our trip to a wildflower-filled meadow at the base of the mountain, we’ll also learn some of the medicinal uses, ecology, propagation, restoration and symbiotic relationships of native plants, and our guide will provide general information about backcountry stewardship, local history, and bird identification.
