Most of the trail passes through quiet forest, which thins enough occasionally to allow fine views of Chaos Crags and Lassen Peak. Winter enthusiasts can enjoy the first 3.25 miles of the Nobles Emigrant Trail from Manzanita Lake to Sunflower Flat on a marked route, returning to the lake on the snow-covered Lassen Park Road. Most of the trail passes through quiet forest.
